In some form, maybe in another universe

Eh :p

Just fascinating to think about. Doesn't matter if I'm wrong, because we won't ever know for sure
Avatar
I think the "opposite" of physics is just non-existence of time and space

Nothingness
5:58 AM
A wacky concept
5:58 AM
I wonder if there's a such thing as anti existence
5:58 AM
There's existence and non-existence
Avatar
Well yeah. Waking life, vs sleep/death
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 5:59 AM
Those are two aspects of existence actually
5:59 AM
The latter is a higher state in my opinion
Avatar
Ehh :D
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 5:59 AM
Death doesn't mean you don't exist anymore, you just change states
Avatar
Thats wildly hypothetical

So is this channel
Avatar
Much more likely that its just the absence of ezoerience
6:00 AM
experience*
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:00 AM
that's why we're here isn't it? to talk about hypothetical concepts?
6:00 AM
this is the metaphysics channel
6:00 AM
lol
Avatar
Sure, I just dont see a reason to assume there would be an experience after the organism has died
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:01 AM
it's a metaphysical idea
6:01 AM
life after death
6:01 AM
:)
Avatar
Sure, just wondering why one would believe that
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:02 AM
because if you think about the fact that you exist
6:02 AM
and if you enjoy that this is true
6:02 AM
and then you discover that one day you'll cease
6:02 AM
you would probably think
6:02 AM
gosh
6:02 AM
i don't wanna die
Avatar
What if you die, anyway?
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:03 AM
that's beside the point
Avatar
Lol
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:03 AM
humans for millenia have dreamed up afterlives because they can't deal with the harsh reality that one day they will in fact die
6:03 AM
as all things do
6:03 AM
entropy
6:04 AM
the point of death isn't to scare people really
6:04 AM
it's to get people to appreciate the life they have
Avatar
Now we're talking, haha
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:05 AM
as a person who has had a near death experience, i can tell you that people who are suicidal will not escape their problems if they try to take their life
6:05 AM
one, the act creates more problems
6:05 AM
two, the problems you experience go with you
6:06 AM
in my near death experience i still felt like shit
6:06 AM
felt worse actually
6:06 AM
my personal deities were pretty pissed
6:06 AM
and it didn't solve anything
6:07 AM
still woke up in the hospital, wondering how the hell my body withstood 4000mg of a mood stabilizer
6:07 AM
so yeah
6:07 AM
life is a gift
6:07 AM
appreciate it or you will literally feel like crap
6:08 AM
this is basic philosophy
Avatar
I think its possible that these near-death experiences, once you actually die, could feel like they last for months and years. But I do think theyre the "last" part of the experience, after which you rest in the dreamless sleep you "experienced" every night of your life. Consciousness/"God" in its off state
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:08 AM
This may be true
6:09 AM
However, I still like to think that there's something more to it all
6:09 AM
Gives me hope
6:09 AM
A sense of purpose, a reason to exist
6:10 AM
That I'm not just a product of an accident of evolutionary and scientific causation
Avatar
I think the best assumption to make is that there would be no reason that the after-death state would be any different from the pre-birth state, from which I have no memory, meaning the absence of experience
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:10 AM
well, as a tulpa, you wouldn't have anything before
6:10 AM
because in theory this is your first go around

Im actually a host, but IMO hosts are just older tulpas, anyway

This "hope" for something more, the afterlife as a reason to exist, IMO is another subtle form of unhappiness, of discontent with life as it presents in this moment
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:13 AM
yeah
6:13 AM
pretty existentially discontented (edited)
Avatar

The word "just" may not be applicable here. Calling a spade a spade doesn't make the spade any less profound
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:13 AM
True
Avatar
What else would you be, if not just that, anyway?
6:16 AM
You're the universe, expanded into billions of stars, a planet made of stardust which has given birth to life, which evolved to give rise to you, so you can have this present-moment experience
6:17 AM
pretty existentially discontented
Have you read some of the framework describing happiness that I've been laying out in this channel?
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:20 AM
No, I haven't. I arrived to this server less than a week ago lol
6:21 AM
I found a poem from the early 1800s that pretty much sums up this hope
6:22 AM
It's called the Psalm of Life by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
6:22 AM
It's basically saying that we should make the most of the short time we have on Earth and live well doing something we are passionate about

Something on topic
6:25 AM
Not even joking, it's like the bot is sentient
6:26 AM
Maybe all those fortunes it told gave them sight
6:27 AM
I always make an effort to tell tatsumaki "fuck you" when it's a fortune that's too on topic
Avatar
So this framework I mentioned is the clearest description of (un)happiness in life I've ever come across. It's basically a summary in plain English of a traditional Hindu school of thought called non-duality. Let me give a three-sentence summary
Avatar
Deleted User 7/28/2020 6:29 AM
Tatsumaki: "To deserve happiness is to give happiness" Me: "You contradictory son of a bitch"
6:29 AM
Non duality
6:29 AM
That's some shit I can comprehend when I'm high a lot easier
6:30 AM
I know about it a bit
6:30 AM
It's really hard to wrap my head around but I know how to use it as a tool
Avatar
Non-duality is really often worded too esoterically IMO
6:32 AM
Here's IMO the best summary of what it's really about
6:32 AM
What we're really seeking is the end of unhappiness, which is a psychological attitude that manifests as 1. guilt, 2. blame, 3. pride, 4. worry, and 5. expectation. This unhappiness is the result of believing that 1) people could act any differently than they actually do, and that 2) pleasure completes me/makes me happy, whereas pain is an attack on who I am. When these beliefs are recognized to be completely inaccurate, unhappiness dissolves, leaving in its place peace of mind regardless of circumstantial pleasure or pain.

For example, I achieved a state of mind-body dualism via subconscious programming. That's been helpful with my meditation. I was thinking of how it would work if I non-dualize it to the mind. Basically, everyone sees their experience as in their body, through their eyes etc. What if I reversed the concept in my mind, effectively seeing the experience of reality as a mental thing, and unifying the entire experience as nondual

Yeah, this is what often happens on the "spiritual seeking" path. The recognition that the entire experience is unified. Sight, sound, touch, smell, taste, as well as thoughts and emotions, all arise within our conscious experience
